La Palma (magazine)

La Palma was a Spanish historical literary magazine of the Balearic island Mallorca from the 19th century.

The first edition of La Palma, Setmanari d'història i literatura appeared on October 4th, 1840. There were a total of 30 editions that appeared under the direction of the editor-in-chief and co-founder Josep Maria Quadrado . The publisher and co-founder of the La Palma magazine were the poet Tomàs Aguiló i Forteza from Palma and Antonio Montis from Port de Sóller . The edition reports on romantic lyric poetry and the importance of poetry. Also included in most of the articles were literary criticism and translations by foreign poets such as George Gordon Byron , Victor Hugo , Alphonse de Lamartine, and others. The other episodes were series about different communities and their personalities as well as about authors of Spanish and Catalan poetry in the style of ancient classical music ("Els poetes romàntics de Mallorca")

The last series edition was published on April 25, 1841.

39 years later, in 1890, a special edition appeared under the same name, which contained a detailed article and works by Mallorcan poets and writers, such as Joan Alcover , Miguel Costa i Llobera , Mateu Obrador i Bennassar .
