Klaus Günther Steinbrück (born July 3, 1939 in Stuttgart ) is a German orthopedist . He is considered one of the pioneers in German sports medicine . He published one of the largest studies on sports injuries and sports damage.

Life

After studying human medicine in Tübingen, Freiburg and Heidelberg, he passed the state examination and doctorate at the University of Heidelberg . From 1969 to 1971 he worked at the trauma surgery Katharinenhospital Stuttgart . Steinbrück then worked at the Orthopedic University Clinic Heidelberg-Schlierbach between 1971 and 1983 and became chief physician at the Orthopedic Clinic Baden-Baden in 1983/84 . From 1984 to 2004 he was chief physician at the Stuttgart Sports Clinic . He has been working at the Orthopedic Clinic Botnang (OKSB) since 2004.

Act

Steinbrück held lectures, seminars and doctoral events at the Universities of Heidelberg and Stuttgart , the Dresden International University and the Cologne Sports University . He is the author of 1200 lectures and 350 publications. He was involved in the design of 100 national and international congresses and training courses, as well as radio and television programs. He also took part in the sports medical care of national and international sporting events in Stuttgart as well as the Federal Performance Center in Heidelberg and the Stuttgart Olympic Training Center and the 1972 Heidelberg Olympics for the disabled. He wrote the largest study on sports injuries and sports damage worldwide.

Steinbrück is co-editor and scientific advisor for specialist journals. He was president of GOTS (Society for Orthopedic-Traumatological Sports Medicine) in 1999, of DAF (German Association for Foot Surgery) in 1998 and of the Baden-Württemberg Sports Medical Association in 2004. He has also been medical director of the VPT Akademie Fort- und Weiterbildungs ​​GmbH - founded by Association of Physical Therapy VPT eV - and since 1994 Medical Director of the VPT Academy, state-recognized massage / physiotherapist school eV in Fellbach-Schmiden and a specialist counseling service in the ZAR (Center for Outpatient Rehabilitation).
