The Dresden International University GmbH (DIU) is a state-recognized private university based in Dresden , which offers bachelor's and master's degrees alongside training and work. It was founded in 2003 as a subsidiary of TU Dresden Aktiengesellschaft (TUDAG). The founding president is the former Saxon Prime Minister Kurt Biedenkopf , who now serves as honorary president. Since February 2010, the DIU is an affiliated institute of the TU Dresden . Richard Funk has been President of the DIU since November 1, 2018.

courses

The DIU offers 41 state-recognized Bachelor's and Master's degrees in five interdisciplinary competence centers. These are the competence center for health sciences and medicine, the competence center for logistics and corporate management, the competence center for cultural, educational and social sciences, the competence center for law in an interdisciplinary context and the competence center for natural and engineering sciences.

Bachelor courses

Chiropractic, B.Sc.

For the first time, part-time chiropractic studies with a bachelor's and master's degree are being offered in Germany. During the course, all necessary skills are learned to use chiropractic safely and effectively on patients and to stand out from the therapists who are often available today with little training.

Midwifery, B.Sc.

The “part-time bachelor's degree in midwifery” is aimed at midwives / obstetricians who are in training. The course offers the opportunity to acquire a first academic degree parallel to vocational training.

There is an increasing need for an academically sound basic training among midwives / obstetricians. As knowledge advances in medicine and changes in the health care system, an adaptation of professional training for midwives / obstetricians is necessary.

In the specialist course, special areas of midwifery are deepened. For the importance of the professional role of midwives / maternity carers, evidence-based action and the professionalization of the profession are discussed. New fields of activity in the areas of prevention and family work are opened up. In addition, competencies are imparted to implement scientific knowledge in the practical work of midwifery and to reflect critically on one's own work. Management for Health Professions, BA

The changes in the healthcare market are increasingly forcing inpatient and outpatient facilities to act economically. The aim of the bachelor's degree is to enable graduates to actively help shape the current challenges in the healthcare sector. The students should work professionally in their training occupations and acquire additional knowledge about the interrelationships and structures of the health system. They develop personally and acquire skills that qualify them for demanding tasks in their professional future.

Management and Leadership, BA

The part-time bachelor's degree in "Management and Leadership" paves the way for innovation and entrepreneurial success. The training concept is characterized by a high degree of practical orientation and good transferability into the professional environment.

The academic further education sharpens the view for one's own action and company processes, makes potentials recognizable and teaches to assess innovations in the professional environment with confidence. The course deals with the essential aspects and challenges of corporate management and succession.

The offer of the degree combines previously separate further education and leads them to an academic level. Studies at the DIU, beginning in the fourth semester, are aimed at all graduates with a degree in business administration, business administration or administration. The course leads to the state-recognized first academic degree "Bachelor of Arts" (BA).

The bachelor's degree is carried out in cooperation with the WirtschaftsAkademie der IHK-Bildungszentrum Dresden gGmbH and the Dresden International University (DIU).

Assembly engineer, B.Eng.

With the dual bachelor's degree "Assembly Engineer", young, technology-loving people with general or subject-related university / technical college entrance qualifications are offered a practice-oriented engineering education that offers numerous opportunities for varied and challenging activities in assembly management in steel and plant construction.

Instruction, monitoring and quality assurance activities in plant construction increasingly require the combination of manual skills, engineering know-how and welding expertise. Assembly engineers from Dresden International University (DIU) receive specialist knowledge that is not otherwise available on the market in this way.

Paramedic, B.Sc.

Cooperation partners for training to become an emergency paramedic are the Gerdau nursing and emergency medical school and the DRK Bildungswerk Sachsen.

The course is divided into a general and a technical part. For each module, credit points are earned that correspond to the respective workload. Proof of acquired knowledge and competencies is provided by examinations.

Osteopathy (full-time / part-time)

Students of the bachelor's degree "Osteopathy" (part-time) acquire specialized knowledge in the field of osteopathy in order to expand their work with osteopathic techniques. After successfully completing the bachelor's degree, the graduates also acquire the degree of osteopath and have extensive knowledge in the areas of craniosacral, visceral and parietal osteopathy. They know how the body works and can explain connections with the help of biomechanics and localize complaints and their causes by palpation. In addition, methodological skills are acquired in order to approach problems in a scientifically correct manner.

Graduates are able to independently take an osteopathic anamnesis and initiate appropriate treatment, check progress and systematically document cases. Basic knowledge regarding the historical and philosophical classification of osteopathy are further contents of the course. Graduates are able to analyze complex clinical pictures and make a corresponding differential diagnosis. The knowledge gained in the theoretical modules is implemented in practical modules, with the focus on awareness and practical application of basic osteopathic models or basic osteopathic theories.

Osteopathic therapy (full-time / part-time)

Students of the part-time bachelor's degree in "Osteopathic Therapy" acquire the fundamentals of specialist and practical skills in the field of osteopathic therapy. As reflective practitioners, the students are enabled to appropriately implement scientific knowledge on this basis. The course enables the graduates to collect findings, to interpret medical findings, to plan therapy and for osteopathic treatment under supervision as well as taking into account the osteopathic philosophy and history in a holistic approach. Osteopathy is acquired in all essential aspects: from the latest medical knowledge to basic osteopathic knowledge to an overview of the current state of research. Due to the interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary course, the professional training and the professional and personal development of the students are promoted.

Nursing B.Sc.
