The Dresden University of Applied Sciences , or FHD for short , is a state-recognized private university of applied sciences in Dresden . The university sponsor is the Dresden University of Applied Sciences - Private Fachhochschule GmbH. In 2010 the university received state recognition from the Saxon State Ministry for Science and Art and is institutionally accredited by the German Science Council.

The FHD teaches on the campus at Straßburger Platz (Güntzstraße 1 in Dresden) with its three faculties: design, business administration and applied social sciences. All FHD courses are accredited by an accreditation agency program ( ZEVA , AQUIN or FIBAA ). The course is offered exclusively in face-to-face classes.

Faculty of Applied Social Sciences

The Faculty of Applied Social Sciences includes the Bachelor programs “ Social Pedagogy & Social Management ” and “ Nursing & Health Management ” . The courses of this faculty are offered as full-time courses as well as part-time courses (fortnightly on Friday evenings and Saturdays). In the courses of study it is possible to shorten the duration of the course by up to 1/3 by crediting professionally acquired competences; for example as a state-approved educator or state-certified geriatric nurse .

Faculty of Business Administration

The Faculty of Business Administration offers the bachelor's programs “ Tourism & Event Management”, “ Logistics Management ” and “ Business Administration ”. The courses are offered as full-time courses as well as part-time courses (every 14 days in the evening). In the courses of study it is possible to shorten the duration of the course by up to 1/3 by crediting professionally acquired competences; for example as a specialist or business economist.

Faculty of Design

The Faculty of Design offers the bachelor's degree courses in media informatics / media design , graphic design and fashion design . The courses in the Faculty of Design are offered full-time. The creative fields of study of fashion design and graphic design require a certain artistic talent. Therefore, during the application process, an aptitude test is carried out, which includes the evaluation of a portfolio of artistic work, a practical task and a personal interview.
