Clutchy Hopkins

Clutchy Hopkins is a fictional character, under whose name several albums of electronic music have appeared. It is unknown who is behind the pseudonym.

history

Clutchy Hopkins first appeared in 2005 when the album The Life of Clutchy Hopkins was released. An "official" biography of the hitherto unknown artist was circulated, according to which he was a revolutionary traveling around the world who had studied traditional music in many countries. Since the 1970s he has been involved in several recordings of jazz and funk bands, although his name was never mentioned at his request. In 2008 a DVD entitled Walking Backwards was released, on which a number of protagonists who confirmed to have met Clutchy Hopkins. Ubiquity Records , the music label on which Hopkins' albums appear, claims to have come into contact with Clutchy with the help of his daughter Kelli Hopkins.

Hopkins is also said to publish the aliases Misled Children and Eugene Harrington among others.

There are several theories about Hopkins' true identity including DJ Shadow , MF Doom , Cut Chemist, and the Beastie Boys . His music combines a number of genres such as hip-hop , trip-hop , funk and jazz.
