Coccidiphila danilevskyi is a butterfly ( moth ) from the family of cosmopterigidae (Cosmopterigidae).

features

The moths reach a wingspan of 7 to 10 millimeters. Coccidiphila danilevskyi is similar to Coccidiphila ledereriella , but differs from this species in its more intense ocher or reddish ocher basic color. A reliable determination is only possible through a genital examination .

The genital fittings of the males are similar to that of Coccidiphila ledereriella . The right brachium is longer than the tegumen . The blades are narrower. The cucullus is less widened and more spatulate. The valvellae are slightly curved upwards, the distal third is sharply bent. The aedeagus has a triangular protuberance on the left side of the apex.

The genital armature of the females is similar to Coccidiphila ledereriella , but differs through the smaller oval ostium . The sterigma has a wider horizontal bar and an almost square lobe at the back. The crest structures of the ductus bursae are smaller and less dense.

distribution

Coccidiphila danilevskyi is common in southern France (including Corsica ), Spain , Portugal , Morocco , and Tunisia .

biology

The biology of the species is unknown. The moths were caught from May to September. In North Africa they also fly in February (Morocco) and from September to October (Tunisia). The species presumably forms two generations.
