Cocoa Producers' Alliance

The Cocoa Producers' Alliance ( COPAL ) is an intergovernmental organization of cocoa producing countries based in Lagos , Nigeria . It was founded in 1962 by five cocoa producing countries in Abidjan . Today it comprises ten member countries that together produce around 75% of the global cocoa harvest. Its aim is to promote the coordination of cocoa policies in the member countries, to strengthen the market position of producers and to maintain relationships with scientific research in the cocoa sector.
