Code for Silence is a Finnish melodic death metal band from Jyväskylä , which was founded in 2006.

history

The band was founded in late 2006 by keyboardist Anssi Komi and guitarist Teemu Liekkala. The latter brought Antti Ström as singer and, in early 2007, Petteri Kattainen, a friend of Liekkala, as bassist. In the summer a first demo called Today You Die was recorded and mixed under the direction of Matti Kynsijärvi and published online. The first of these three songs, Giant Man , is included on Firca's 2008 sampler Metallirovio (Ensimmäinen Kiusaus) . The demo made several labels interested in the band, but this did not lead to a record deal. At that time, Mikko Ahlfors, who had already contributed clear vocals and backing vocals to the demo , joined the cast as a permanent singer. In spring 2008 the band signed a record deal with Off Records Finland . The debut album D.ecaying M.atter / O.rganic N.emesis was released in June 2009 . In 2012, the second album Eyes World Shut followed through Inverse Records .

Katarzyna Zakolska from metal-temple.com described the music of Eyes World Shut as Melodic Death Metal. The song Rose Blooms In Bloodred is more aggressive Death Metal, while Flashbacking One Night Stand mixes electronica and industrial . The chorus offers a mixture of melodic singing and deep growls , which in turn are like a mix of My Darkest Days and Slipknot . Death Bringer offers a symphonic orchestral intro. The song itself contains melodic vocals and backing growls. The following Eye for an Eye is a little more aggressive. Deathrace has an elaborate instrumentation in the chorus , while the subsequent symphonic Death Metal combines a few elements from Black Metal and Industrial. The Art of Being a Coward combines elements from Death Metal, Nu Metal , Jazz , Emo and Power Metal . Brothers sound epic and ballad-like and use a saxophone and an acoustic guitar, among other things . A lot of clear vocals are used in the song and a few growls and screams . On the Streets of a Sleeping City mix drum and bass with violins and a saxophone. In the verses you use clear vocals, while in the chorus you use growls.
