Sailor V ( Japanese コ ー ド ネ ー ム は セ ー ラ ー V , Kōdonēmu wa Sērā Bui ) is a Japanese manga by Naoko Takeuchi . The manga is the prequel to the internationally successful anime and manga series Sailor Moon .

action

The story of Sailor V is about the 13 year old school girl Minako Aino. She is open and dreams of one day finding true love. But her normal life changes when she meets the white cat Artemis, who tells her that she can transform into a beautiful, strong warrior. From now on she has to fight against evil, in the name and protection of the planet Venus. To help Minako with her new mission, Artemis gives her two important items:

  • A kind of powder compact with the shape of a crescent moon that shows a person's true self.
  • The metamorphosis pen with which she can transform into the warrior Sailor V.

Sailor V starts from now on to fight against an evil group called Dark Agency (in the new edition: Dark Agency ) and also occasionally helps the police.

At the end of the manga, Sailor V finds out her true identity as Sailor Venus and decides to find the other Sailor warriors as well as the moon princess. Thus the code name: Sailor V forms the prehistory to Sailor Moon and Minako Aino or Sailor Venus.

Compared to Sailor Moon

The original plan was to implement Codename: Sailor V as an anime series. However, it was decided to produce a new series, with new actors and a similar story. The main character, Usagi Tsukino , from Sailor Moon is therefore based on Minako Aino and shares many traits with her, such as clumsiness or bad grades. Minako is much more athletic and not as lazy as Usagi.
