Codex Millenarius (maior)

The Codex Millenarius maior is an illuminated gospel book that was created around 800 in the Mondsee Monastery . It is now in the library of the Kremsmünster Abbey in Upper Austria , call number Cim. 1 .

The manuscript contains eight Carolingian-style bezels depicting the four evangelists and their insignia, making the work a unique work of art from that time.
