The Codex Zographensis ( Bulgarian Зографско евангелие ) is a altkirchenslawisches Tetraevangeliar , that a manuscript containing the four Gospels in the traditional order.

The Codex Zographensis is a manuscript created in the western Bulgarian language area ( Macedonia ) . It was discovered in 1843 by the diplomat Antun Mihanović in the monastery library of the Bulgarian Orthodox monastery Zografou on Mount Athos .

The time of origin of this Tetraevangeliary lies between the end of the 10th and the beginning of the 11th century. It contains the four Gospels and was written in the Glagolitic script . A total of 304 folia have been preserved. The Codex Zographensis does not begin with Matthew 1,1  EU , but only with Matthew 3,11  EU , since the first leaves have not been preserved. The Bulgarian Orthodox monks donated the Codex to the Russian Tsar Alexander II in 1860. The Codex Zographensis is now in the Russian National Library in Saint Petersburg .
