Systematics

Coenonympha amirica was described by Colin W. Wyatt in 1961 after a collecting trip in Afghanistan based on 79 specimens as Lyela amirica . The type specimens come from Band-e-Amir , Hazara .

Many authors assign the species to the genus Lyela Swinhoe, 1908 , which consists of three species and was synonymous with Coenonympha by Kodandaramaiah and Wahlberg in 2009 , since the species together with Coenonympha nolckeni form a clade .
