Systematics
The genus was established in 1908 by C. Swinhoe. The type species is macmahoni . The similarity to the genus Coenonympha was already recognized by Swinhoe. Kodandaramaiah and Wahlberg 2009 showed through genetic studies that the species together with Coenonympha nolckeni form a clade and therefore synonymized it with Coenonympha .
