Coface Germany, a branch of Coface SA , is part of the international credit insurer Coface SA, headquartered in Paris . The name (pronunciation: Kofass ) is an acronym and stands for Compagnie française d'assurance pour le commerce extérieur. The head office of the German branch is in Mainz. Business for the Northern Europe region (Netherlands, Scandinavia) is also controlled from here. The Coface Group is a leading global credit insurer and offers companies around the world solutions for receivables management in domestic and export business. In Germany , factoring is part of the core business in addition to credit insurance . Offers such as credit information and debt collection complete the range of services offered by Coface in Germany.

Factoring is part of the Coface Finanz business area. Coface Finanz buys receivables from companies that have them on their customers. With the purchase of the receivables, the default risk is assumed. Coface Debitoren is responsible for debt collection and specializes in debt collection. Coface Rating has credit information on around 50 million companies around the world. With this information, Coface Rating can assign characters (symbols) to these companies that reflect their creditworthiness in monetary units.

The foreign branches of Coface SA within the Northern Europe region are in Breda (Netherlands), Stockholm (Sweden) and Vejle (Denmark).

history

The company was founded on March 19, 1923 on the initiative of Isaak Fulda as Mainzer (later: Rheinische) Garantiebank Kautionsversicherungs-Aktiengesellschaft by Mainz merchants and a Frankfurt bank. The business purpose: to operate the surety business in the German Reich . In 1937 the company was renamed Rheinische Garantie & Kautionsversicherungs-AG under pressure from the National Socialists .

In the 1950s, the two main shareholders were the insurance companies Münchener Rückversicherungs-Gesellschaft and Agrippina , and in the early 1960s the company traded as Allgemeine Kreditversicherung AG. She expanded her business to include all branches of credit insurance. In May 1995, Rewe Zentralfinanz eG became the main shareholder of the insurance company, and in mid-1996 Rewe took over the stake in Allianz SE and held 87.5% of the shares. From autumn 1996, Coface from France took over 50% of the shares in the company, which was renamed Allgemeine Kredit Coface on September 1, 2002 . Since October 1, 2002, the company has belonged entirely to Coface, Paris.

On July 1, 2003, all staff departments were transferred to Allgemeine Kredit Coface Holding AG . In addition, there were holdings in Allgemeine Kredit Coface Finanz GmbH (factoring) and Cofacerating-Holding GmbH (@rating). AKC Holding now managed Coface's German activities.

From January 1, 2006, the umbrella brand of the German company was Coface Deutschland . The operational holding companies were also given new names: Coface Kredit , Coface Finanz , Coface Debitoren and Coface Rating .

On November 1, 2012, the cross-border merger with the French parent company Coface SA took place. Since then, the former Coface Deutschland AG has been operating as Coface Deutschland, a branch of Coface SA

Until July 1, 2016, Coface Germany gave its name to the new football stadium of 1. FSV Mainz 05 , which was built near the company headquarters and opened in July 2011, the Coface Arena . Since July 1st, 2016 the arena has been named after the new sponsor Opel .

In 2011, the companies of Coface Deutschland recorded sales of 469.9 million euros . In 2011, Coface Kredit (including the foreign branches) achieved a turnover of 318 million euros. The volume of cover was 137.3 billion euros.
