The Colbeck Archipelago is an archipelago made up of numerous small rock islands off the Mawson coast of the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . Its center is 1.5 km northwest of Byrd Head and immediately east of Taylor Glacier .
Participants in the British Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (1929-1931) led by the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson discovered it in January 1930 and mapped it in February 1931. Mawson named the headland after William Robinson Colbeck (1906-1986), second Officer on board the expedition ship RRS Discovery .
