Colimastitis in cows

The colimastitis of cows is a sporadic mastitis (mastitis) in cows caused by the bacterium Escherichia coli is caused.

This udder inflammation is mainly characterized by the fact that general disorders with fever and unwillingness to eat usually also occur. But there are also chronic and subclinical courses of the disease. The infection usually occurs from E. coli in the faeces . Endotoxins as virulence factors play a major role in the pathogenesis . Acute mastitis causes severe swelling of the affected udder quarter.

therapy

Treatment is carried out locally and parenterally at the same time . An antibiogram is required for this. The animal should be milked out frequently.

Good milking and stall hygiene must be observed as a preventive measure.
