Collas (noble family)

Collas is the name of an old noble family from Normandy ( France ), which was first mentioned in a document with Louis de Collas (1390-1458), lord of the Rameille and Lincour as well as councilor, chancellor and chamberlain to Anton Graf von Vaudémont (Duke of Lorraine) and with it the direct line of trunks began. The family found its German origins in East Prussia in 1701 with John von Collas ( Jean de Collas ), who was persecuted Huguenots with father Antoine († 1693) and siblings in 1685 after the Edict of Nantes was repealed by the Edict of Fontainebleau (October 18, 1685) in the wake of Prince William of Orange (1650-1702) had to flee to the Netherlands and then came to East Prussia via London. The Collas father was a close confidante of Prince Wilhelm.
