Colonia Aurora is a small town with around 9,000 inhabitants in northeast Argentina . It is located in the Veinticinco de Mayo administrative district in the Misiones province . The place is a 2nd class community.
Colonia Aurora was founded in 1959, making it one of the last colonized areas in Misiones. For a long time the city could only be reached via the Río Uruguay or an unpaved country road, since 1999 the Ruta Provincial Nº 2 has been paved.
Colonia Aurora is still strongly characterized by agriculture: the main sources of income for the residents are the cultivation of tobacco , soy , mate and pineapple .
