One of the symbols of Colonia Roma (Norte) is Michelangelo's David in Plaza Rio de Janeiro .

The Colonia Roma is a neighborhood in the Delegación Cuauhtémoc in Mexico City .

location

The Colonia Roma is located immediately south of the Zona Rosa and east of the Colonia Condesa . It is essentially bounded by Avenida Chapultepec in the north, Avenida Insurgentes Sur in the west, Avenida Cuauhtémoc in the east and the Viaducto Miguel Alemán in the south. The Avenida Coahuila separates the Colonia Roma into the official names Colonia Roma Norte and Colonia Roma Sur .

history

The Colonia Roma was created at the beginning of the 20th century as a place of residence for the middle class and grew almost simultaneously with the neighboring Colonia Condesa , whose structure is similar to that of Colonia Roma. The two Colonias Roma Norte and Roma Sur developed differently.

The Colonia Roma Norte is considered hip and is home to a variety of bars and restaurants . In contrast, the originally aristocratic Colonia Roma Sur is more of a typical residential area in which immigrants from other Latin American countries now also live.
