The Colorado State Highway 5 is a state highway in the US state of Colorado , the South-North direction is in.
The State Highway begins below the summit of Mount Evans and ends at Echo Lake on Colorado State Highway 103 . It is one of the highest roads in the United States and part of the Mount Evans Scenic Byway .
The road is closed for the winter months from Labor Day through Memorial Day . In the warm months the road is open 24 hours a day.
