Mount Evans Scenic Byway
The Mount Evans Scenic Byway is a scenic byway in the US state of Colorado . It begins - about 40 km west of Denver - from the exit of the I-70 motorway at Idaho Springs on Highway 103 and continues halfway along Highway 5 to the summit of Mount Evans . The Scenic Byway climbs more than 2,000 meters from its starting point and is the highest paved road in the United States, at 4,307 meters at the end .
Typically, toll Highway 5 is only open to the public during the summer months from Memorial Day to Labor Day , although poor weather and road conditions may require even greater restrictions.
Every year the Bob Cook Memorial Mount Evans Hill Climb takes place up there.
