Comandante Fontana is the capital of the Patiño Department in the Formosa Province in northern Argentina . It is 184 kilometers from the provincial capital Formosa , with which it is connected via the Ruta Nacional 81 . history

The area of ​​today's Comandante Fontana was originally the territory of the Matacos who resisted the Spanish conquerors. In 1781 65 warriors, 13 women and 12 children were killed.
