Comandante Fontana is the capital of the Patiño Department in the Formosa Province in northern Argentina . It is 184 kilometers from the provincial capital Formosa , with which it is connected via the Ruta Nacional 81 . In the classification of the municipalities of the province it belongs to the municipalities ( Municipio ) of the 3rd category.
history
The area of today's Comandante Fontana was originally the territory of the Matacos who resisted the Spanish conquerors. In 1781 65 warriors, 13 women and 12 children were killed.
