Comix Zone is a computer game released in 1995 by the Sega company for the Sega Mega Drive . Various ports, including for the Game Boy Advance , the PlayStation Portable , the PlayStation 2 (as part of the Sega Mega Drive Collection ) and the Virtual Console appeared around ten years later.

description

This game is a fairly simple beat 'em up with platformer and adventure elements. The main character, Sketch Turner, a comic artist who has been caught in his own work, moves through a graphically represented environment, which consists of individual small rooms, each of which contains one or more opponents, or in which a puzzle has to be solved. You can collect a small amount of items that either serve to solve a riddle or bring advantages in combat.

The peculiarity of this game is the representation of the main hero and the environment. You move in a comic layout, which consists of several panels arranged next to and one below the other . Opponents and objects are partially drawn in or erased from the outside by an imaginary draftsman. Due to the unequal panel size, the player often decides in which direction to move on a comic page (you can usually see part of the surrounding panels, which should make the decision easier), so there is only a limited linearity in the course of the game.
