Commandantes was a communist punk rock band from Bielefeld .

history

The Commandantes were founded in summer 2002 by Klaus (Ex-Rotators, Ex-Schiesser), Bernd (Ex-Schiesser, Ex-The Nymphomaniacs), Lahs (Ex-Flugs Vonstatten), Horst (Se Schrillos) and Bernd Schrillo (Ex-Se Schrillos) founded. The band produced their first six songs and put together a CD with the sampler Viva La Revolution for the 100th birthday of the Socialist Youth in Germany , on which bands such as Los Fastidios , Die Mimmi’s , The Skatoons and Notdurft were represented. Before the first gig, Bernd Schrillo left the band and Horst switched from bass to second guitar. Heino (ex-Ingrid Astor, ex-Flugs Vonstatten) became the new bass player.

After a few first appearances, the band's first album was released in 2004 on the Göttingen label Mad Butcher Records . In songs for the working class they covered old workers' songs and anti-fascist songs like Bandiera rossa , Die Arbeiter von Wien or Brüder, zur Sonne, zur Freiheit in a punk rock / Oi! -Style. In the same year Johann Stolze, who had already produced the Commandantes' first songs, joined the band as bassist from the punk band Notdurft after Heino had left the band.

In October 2006 the third album For Bread And Freedom was released . Shortly afterwards Horst left the band and the vacant guitar position was initially filled by Shannon (ex-ADAM). In 2007 Shannon left the band and was replaced by Christian Rodermund. In 2007 the band performed at the Force Attack festival . From August 2007 there was a new singer. Mike (ex-Schiesser) took over the position as front man. In May 2008 Mary joined them to share the bass job with Jones. In the summer of 2008, first Mike, then Mary and finally the band's founder Klaus left the band, which then broke up.

Mary and Klaus founded the successor band Kapelle Vorwärts .
