Community and sibling Koinonia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Koinonia Community is a Christian community in the Protestant regional church .

The community was established in 1976. A total of 13 members live in community of property in four house conventions in Hermannsburg , Germerode , Heidelberg and Mahikeng (South Africa).

Connected to the community was the Koinonia sibling formed in 1984 for people who wanted to lead their lives according to the same spiritual order without a communitarian vocation. The 50 members of the sibling live in Ethiopia, Germany, South Africa, England and Switzerland. Both communities lived according to the same spiritual order until 2012, in which the contemplative prayer played a central role. Retreats, youth work and missions were among the Koinonia's areas of work. Since 2012, both communities have been separated in terms of content and organization.

The Koinonia community and siblings became known to a larger circle of pastors and parishioners through the book series Come - See - Stay .
