history

Compassio was founded as wh + p in 2005 by the Upper Swabian family company Weishaupt. In 2006 the first nursing home was opened in Illertissen near Ulm. In the years 2007 to 2009 there was strong expansion and 17 more facilities were opened. In 2009, wh + p care was renamed Compassio. In the following years, more senior homes followed continuously in southern Germany and the range of outpatient care was also expanded.

On December 14, 2017, Compassio announced a change of shareholders. The company was bought by the “Schöne Leben Gruppe”, which was founded in autumn 2017 and operates as a subsidiary of the independent private equity investment company Waterland.

In 2018, Compassio was one of the 25 largest nursing home operators in Germany.
