Connect Chemicals GmbH is a global manufacturer and distributor of specialty chemicals based in Ratingen , Germany. In addition to in-house production, procurement and sales of specialty chemicals, custom manufacturing is a core competence.

history

Connect Chemicals GmbH was founded in 1998 by Dirk Otmar, Başar Karaca and Qiping Hou in Ratingen. In addition to the traditional business of a trading company, the company has developed into a full-service provider in the field of specialty chemicals. Under the umbrella of Connect Chemicals Holding, joint ventures and own offices at different locations ensure local service in the areas of production, sales and procurement of specialty chemicals.

With the strategy of constant expansion and growth, Connect Chemicals Tianjin Co Ltd. founded in Tianjin, China in 1999, followed by Connect Chemicals UK Ltd., in Cheshire, UK.

In January 2000, in addition to the Tianjin location, another location was added in China - Connect Chemicals Wuxi Co. Ltd in Jiangsu, China. Both locations coordinate the activities within the Chinese market.

With the expansion of sales and branding activities, Connect Chemicals Italy was founded in 2000 and Connect Chemicals France in 2003.

The American market was opened up with the establishment of Connect Chemicals LLC in Atlanta, Georgia.

In 2001 further Chinese productions followed: Jianyin Connect Chemicals Co. Ltd, Jingjiang Connect Chemical Co. Ltd and Connect Rugao Chemicals Co. Ltd.

As a result of developments in the thermal paper industry, Connect Wilson (Penglai) Chemicals, Shandong, China, became part of the corporate structure in 2004.

In 2008 Connect Chemicals took over an earlier Agfa plant in Vaihingen an der Enz. This location was to be expanded as a production facility. As a result of an incident, the Vaihingen plant, which operates independently as Connect Chemicals Production & Services GmbH , filed for bankruptcy in 2015 and the site was closed in the same year. According to the Central Reporting and Evaluation Office for Incidents and Disruptions, the cause of the incident was still unclear even six months after the incident.

Another location development in India with the establishment of the Connect Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, in 2009, made it possible to further expand international business.

Connect Chemicals Benelux BV was founded at the Dordrecht site in Holland in 2014 to expand the European sales network .
