Conrad Hotels
Conrad Hotels is a subsidiary of Hilton Hotels, named after the founder Conrad Hilton . Conrad Hotels was founded in 1982 , 70 years after the Hilton chain was founded, as a chain for luxury hotels and resorts in the most important locations in the world.
Conrad Hotels was not the first expanding Hilton Hotels project. As early as 1949 one tried with Hilton International in the Caribbean , Puerto Rico , Madrid and Istanbul . 15 years later, Hilton International became an independent line of business that was sold on the stock exchange, but the Hilton chain secured all naming rights .
In January 1997, Hilton International and Hilton Hotels Corporation merged again. In November 2000, Hilton Group plc and Hilton Hotels Corporation formed a joint venture for luxury hotels: Conrad. The company is owned by the two partners in Brussels.
The first Conrad Hotel opened in Australia .
In May 2014 there were a total of 25 Conrad Hotels worldwide: in Egypt , China (PR) , Hong Kong , Indonesia , Ireland , Japan , Macau , Maldives , Portugal , Singapore ( Conrad Centennial Hotel ), South Africa , South Korea , Thailand , Turkey , Uruguay , USA and United Arab Emirates .
