Conrad Koellner

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Conrad Köllner (* around 1947) is a former Austrian table tennis player who was one of the best players in Austria in the 1960s.

Career

Conrad Köllner began his career at the ASV Puch Graz club and moved to Vienna in 1964 . From 1975 to 1977 he played for DSG Ferlach.

In 1964 he took first place in the Austrian ranking. A year later he became national champion in singles, in 1966 and 1967 he reached the final. He also won the doubles title with Heinz Schlueter in 1967 . In 1965 and 1967 he was nominated for the world championships, but never came close to medal ranks.

Conrad Köllner was considered stubborn, which also led to several bans.

"It's a shame that Köllner's talent and ability are always at odds with his stubbornness, which made him the" enfant terrible "of Austrian table tennis some time ago."

- The Viennese journalist Alfred Nimmerrichter in the “Austrian Sports Yearbook 1965”, quoted in the Tischtennis-Rundschau 1966/1
