Heinz Schlueter (table tennis player)
Heinz Schlueter (born October 2, 1948 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian table tennis player . He was one of the best players in Austria in the 1970s.
Austria
Schlüter is multiple Austrian champion. In 1969 and 1972 he won the national state championship in singles, plus four titles in doubles: 1967 with Conrad Köllner , 1968, 1970, 1972 each with Wolfgang Petrzalka. With the ASKÖ Strassenbahn Wien club he was Austrian team champion in 1967, 1968 and 1969. In a team fight in 1971 he won a victory over the then world champion Tibor Klampár .
From 1967 to 1977 he was nominated for all six world championships. He completed more than 140 international matches for Austria.
Germany
In 1972 Schlueter began to play in the German Bundesliga . He is the first foreigner in the Bundesliga (together with his compatriot Rudolf Weinmann ). He was active at Hertha BSC until 1974 , after which he moved to SSV Reutlingen 05 . With this club he won the DTTB Cup in 1976 and 1977 and the German Team Championship in 1977. In 1976 the club reached the final of the European Exhibition Cities Cup . In 1977 he finished second in doubles at the German championships together with Peter Stellwag .
In the 1980s Schlüter played again in Austria, but returned to Reutlingen in 2001 and has been active here (in the association league) ever since.
Private
Schlüter is a business graduate. In mid-1975 he married Ursula Becker.
