Life

He was the son of Liborius Orth, mayor in Geseke, and his wife Sibylla from Hagen. Conrad Orth from Hagen's uncle, mother's brother, was Bernhard from Hagen (* before 1490; † October 3, 1556 in Cologne), doctor jur. utr., electoral chancellor , provost and dean in Cologne. Under his care he studied law and theology in Cologne , where he also received his doctorate . He became dean and rector of the university and dean and canon at the collegiate church of St. George on Waidmarkt, where he is also buried. From 1554 he was also canon of Cologne . Like his uncle Bernhard to Odilia von Berck ("duos filios naturales") and other clergymen, he also had an illegitimate relationship with his maid Sibylla von Düsseldorf († November 29, 1573 in Cologne). The two sons Georg Orth (* around 1553 in Cologne) and Conrad Orth (* around 1555 in Cologne) emerged from this relationship. According to the will of his uncle, whose heir he was, he brought his inherited and his own fortune into a foundation; Male descendants and relatives should be able to finance their studies and female descendants and relatives a dowry from the proceeds of the foundation's assets. This family foundation has existed since 1594 and is administered by the Cologne grammar school and foundation fund.
