The Conservatorio Statale di Musica "Gioachino Rossini" is a conservatory in Pesaro , Italy .

The conservatory was founded in 1869 with a legacy from the estate of the composer Gioachino Rossini and opened in 1882 with 67 students. It later became known first as the Liceo musicale Rossini . The seat is the Palazzo Olivieri-Machirelli from the 18th century in the Piazza Oliveri in Pesaro.

In 2010 it had about 850 students studying for higher degrees in singing, instrumental performance, composition, musicology, choral conducting, jazz or electronic music. The conservatory also trains music teachers for secondary schools and regularly holds master classes there. Past graduates include composers Carlo Pedrotti , Pietro Mascagni , Riccardo Zandonai , Mezio Agostini and Franco Alfano . Mascagni's opera Zanetto was premiered at the Conservatorio in 1896 .
