Constantin Friedrich Blesendorf (baptized February 22, 1674 in Berlin ; † around 1724 in Berlin) was a painter, draftsman and engraver in Berlin.

Constantin Friedrich Blesendorf was the son of the copper engraver Samuel Blesendorf . His godfather was Eberhard Freiherr von Danckelmann . He worked as a painter and engraver in Berlin. On March 11, 1700, the day of his father's funeral, he was appointed court engraver. In 1702 he was appointed a member of the Akademie der Künste , founded in 1696 , and later professor of geometry and perspective . The special importance lies in its precise reproduction of the contemporary buildings in Berlin. Like his father, he made some copperplate engravings for the "Thesaurus Electoralis Brandenburgici". Occasionally he also worked as a portrait painter. In 1707 he married and had a daughter.

Remarks

  1. In Thieme Becker and Nicolai, the year of death is given as 1744 or 1754. Gernot Ernst justifies the specified date of death as follows:

“The […] year of death 1744 or 1754 is not confirmed by the church records. [...] In the address calendars published by the Academy of Sciences from 1706 onwards, CF Blesendorf is given as a copper engraver from 1707 to 1723, after which his entry is missing. In the annual budget of Friedrich Wilhelm I in 1723 he is still listed as court engraver [...]. The assumption is that he died in 1724 and that Nicolai, the original source for the previous information, is a typographical error. "

  2. In the literature it is often stated that Constantin Friedrich Blesendorf was a brother of Samuel Blesendorf, which cannot be due to the large age difference.
