Jewish cemeteries in Helmstedt
There are documented two Jewish cemeteries in the Lower Saxony city of Helmstedt in the Helmstedt district .
Old graveyard
The old cemetery at Schinderkamp on Schwarzenberg near today's Emmerstedter Strasse was occupied from 1813 to 1869. Between 1847 and 1869 there were 18 burials, in 1899 there were 13 burial mounds on the site. No tombstones have survived.
New cemetery
The new cemetery at Magdeburger Tor was laid out in 1876 and occupied from 1892 to 1955. The cemetery, on which 15 tombstones have been preserved, is administered by the regional association of the Jewish communities of Lower Saxony .
