Constantius of Perugia († around 170? At Foligno ) was a Christian martyr and saint . According to legend, he was the first bishop of Perugia .

There are four versions of Constantius' Passio . Accordingly, he was captured with some companions under Antoninus Pius or Mark Aurel . They were scourged and then thrown into an oven without harming them. Constantius was then taken to a dungeon, where he converted his guards, who then released him. He then found shelter with a Christian named Anastasius, but was then taken prisoner with him. They were tortured in prisons in Assisi and Spello and finally beheaded at Foligno .

The authenticity of the martyrdom is not certain, the bishops of Perugia can only be proven over 300 years later. Nevertheless, Constantius, who is said to have become bishop at the age of 30, is the patron saint of Perugia. The saint's feast day is January 29th . His body was brought from Foligno to Perugia, where there was a church dedicated to him, which was destroyed in 1527. In 1825 the relics were transferred to the current church of San Costanzo. Constantius is often represented together with Herculanus of Perugia , also patron of the city, who however lived in the 6th century.
