Coo Coo Marlin

Clifton "Coo Coo" Marlin (born January 3, 1932 in Columbia , Tennessee , † August 14, 2005 ibid) was an American racing driver and a legend of the US motorsport league NASCAR .

Life

Marlin first made a name for itself in smaller races in Tennessee and Alabama . Here he drove against well-known drivers such as Red Farmer , Bobby and Donnie Allison . He switched to the newly developed Grand National Series and became one of the early racing stars. Marlin never won any of its 165 races between 1966 and 1980, but had nine top five and 51 top ten finishes.

Clifton "Coo Coo" Marlin raced for 14 years in the Grand National Series, which from 1972 was called the Winston Cup. He is the father of today's NASCAR driver Sterling Marlin . He died of lung cancer.
