Copa de Andalucía (women's football)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Copa de Andalucía Fútbol Femenino ( Spanish for Andalusia Women's Football Cup ) is an official cup competition for football clubs in the autonomous community of Andalusia in Spain , which has been organized by the Real Federación Andaluza de Fútbol (RFAF) since 2015 .

history

The competition was launched on the occasion of the centenary of the RFAF, which was founded on February 22, 1915. The first trophy was determined in a game on January 25, 2015 between Sporting Huelva and Atlético Málaga , the two leading clubs in Andalusia in women's football at the time.

For the second edition of the cup, the field of participants was expanded to twelve, who determined the winner among themselves in a one-day tournament in games of 45 minutes each. Although the second cup was played in the same calendar year as the first, it is counted for 2016. Four clubs took part in the third cup tournament in 2017, and in the fourth in 2018 the field doubled to eight.
