Coral Records is an American Jazz - and Pop - Label .

History of the record label

Coral Records was created as a sub-label of Decca Records in the 1940s ; various jazz and swing bands recorded on Coral records during this time . The manager was Bob Thiele , who was married to the Coral artist Teresa Brewer . Coral Records will be remembered for its early rock 'n' roll recordings. Records from Buddy Holly and The Crickets and Johnny Burnette's Rock'n'Roll Trio were released there . In the late 1950s, Debbie Reynolds had her hit "Tammy" on the Coral label. In the late 1960s, Coral's catalog was taken over by MCA Records .

In 1973, when MCA merged with Decca, the MCA Coral Label became a low-priced label of re-releases.

Artists who released records on Coral Records include Teresa Brewer , Johnny Burnette Trio , Patsy Cline , Don Cornell , Little Miss Cornshucks , Bob Crosby & His Orchestra, Pete Fountain , Buddy Holly and The Crickets , McGuire Sisters , Barbara McNair and Debbie Reynolds
