Coram's Fields, official long form: Coram's Fields and the Harmsworth Memorial Playground, are around 2.8 hectares of parkland in the London borough of Camden . The park, named after the businessman and philanthropist Thomas Coram , is located about 500 meters southeast of both King's Cross and St Pancras train stations . In addition to various sports facilities and playgrounds, the park has a youth center, a kindergarten and an animal enclosure.

Coram's Fields are located on the former site of the Foundling Hospital children's home founded by Coram in 1739 . In 1926 the home was moved to the small town of Redhill , about 30 kilometers south ; the site was subsequently sold and the building demolished. The new owner's plan to move the fruit, vegetable and flower market from Covent Garden to Camden failed due to local resistance. In 1936, an interest group, financially managed by Harold Harmsworth, bought the property and converted it into a children's playground.

Even today, the park is only released for use by children and young people. Adults are only allowed to enter Coram's Fields if they are accompanied by a child or young person under the age of 16.

In 1987 Coram's Fields, along with the adjacent public gardens of Brunswick Square and Mecklenburgh Square, were added to the British List of Monuments , where they are classified as "of National Importance and Special Interest" (Grade II) . The park is now managed by an independent charity ; more than 150,000 visitors use it every year.

The closest London Underground station is Russell Square .
