Corba (unit)

The corba was an old Italian measure of grain and liquids. In Bologna it was primarily used as a measure of wine and fruit. It can be interpreted with a basket.

Grain measure

  • 1 corba = 3720 Paris cubic feet = 73 ¾ liters
  • 1 Corba = 2 Stari = 8 Quarteroni (Quartiroli) = 32 Quarticeni = 0.0758 cubic meters
  • 1 Corba wheat = 160 Bologna pounds

Wine measure

  • 1 corba = 2 mezze
  • 1 corba = 7859.3 centiliters = 3962 Parisian cubic feet
  • 1 corba = 4 quarter rolls = 60 boccali = 240 foglietti = 0.0758 cubic meters

The quartarole was divided into 15 Boccali (beakers) or 60 Fogliette (vials).

According to another source 1 Corba = 3720 Paris cubic feet

The smaller measure Boccali, Boccale, Bocale stood for cup / cup and was more common: Turin, Milan, Rome and Sardinia.

  • The Corba was divided into 2 stajos with 16 quarters.
