CoreLeoni is a Swiss hard rock / classic rock band.
Band history
CoreLeoni was founded by Gotthard guitarist Leo Leoni on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the first, self-titled Gotthard album. The goal was to bring the songs of the debut album such as Downtown , Firedance , Higher , Here Comes the Heat and In the Name to new advantage, as these were rarely played live. The band was then signed by Frontier Music . This is how the first album of the project called The Greatest Hits Part 1 was created with the participation of the current Rainbow singer Ronnie Romero (formerly Lords of Black ). Even before Romero was hired by Rainbow, Leoni and Romero met in 2014, when Romero's band "Lords of Black" played in the Spanish cities of Bilbao and Barcelona as a support act for Gotthard. The line-up also includes Igor Gianola (ex- UDO , founding member of Alto Voltaggio ), Mila Merker (Soulline) and drummer Hena Habegger from Gotthard. The album reached number 3 in the Swiss charts.
In 2018 the band also played at Bang Your Head in Balingen and at Rock the Ring .
In 2019 the band released another album with II . In addition to old Gotthard songs in a new guise, this contained two new songs and the John Lee Hooker cover Boom Boom . A video was shot for the song Queen of Hearts . The album was released on September 27, 2019 via AFM Records . The album reached number 67 in the German charts. The band has been on tour very successfully parallel to Gotthard since 2018, and the live repertoire mainly consists of the songs from the rockier first Gotthard albums as well as some new compositions in a similar style.
