Cormorant Island ( English for cormorant island ) is a small, rocky island made of basalt in the archipelago of the Heard and McDonald Islands in the southern Indian Ocean . It is located at the southern end of Sydney Cove on Heard Island
The island is a breeding area for cormorants, which gave it its name.
