Cornelia Ruhkemper (born August 18, 1954 in Bottrop ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from June 8, 2005 to May 30, 2017.

Life

After graduating from secondary school, Ruhkemper completed training as a civil servant in the middle service in the Federal Armed Forces administration from 1971 to 1973. She passed the career test in 1973, then from July 1973 to June 2005 she worked as a clerk at the Düsseldorf District Armed Forces Replacement Office.

Ruhkemper's mother was already active in local politics; she has been a member of the SPD since 1976. Since the beginning of the 1990s she has been deputy chairwoman of the Bottrop-Stadtmitte local association. Since October 1994 she has been a member of the city council of Bottrop, where she has been deputy parliamentary group leader of her party since October 2004. From 1999 to 2004 she was the honorary mayor of the city of Bottrop, representing the mayor Ernst Löchelt . In 2005 she became deputy chairwoman of the SPD sub-district Bottrop. Since June 8, 2005, Ruhkemper has been a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia, where she is a full member of the petitions committee and as vice-chair of the committee for climate protection, the environment and nature conservation, agriculture and consumer protection. The candidacy was influenced by the fact that her partner Peter Noetzel successfully ran for the election of the Lord Mayor of Bottrop. She succeeded Klaus Strehl as MP , who did not run for election again.

Ruhkemper did not run again in the state elections in 2017.
