Peter Noetzel

Peter Noetzel (born November 5, 1946 in Bottrop ) is a German SPD politician and was Lord Mayor of Bottrop from 2004 to 2009 .

Life

Since 1961 Noetzel worked in the administration of the city of Bottrop. Since 1972 he was classified in the higher service , in 1973 he became a civil servant for life, 1974–1978 he worked in the youth welfare office and subsequently in the office for data processing and statistics, whose deputy head he became that same year. In 1986 he became the deputy head of the city treasury, which he finally became head of in 1994. In 1996 the Bottrop city council elected him city treasurer.

In 2004 he ran in the local elections in North Rhine-Westphalia for the office of Lord Mayor of Bottrop and won the second ballot with 54.4% of the votes ahead of the CDU candidate Hermann Hirschfelder (45.6%). Noetzel took office as the successor to Ernst Löchelt (SPD).

In the local elections on August 30, 2009, Bottrops Technical Alderman, Bernd Tischler (SPD), was elected as his successor.
