Kurt Schmitz

Kurt Schmitz (born June 30, 1929 in Koblenz ; † March 12, 2003 ) was a German politician ( SPD ). From 1988 to 1994 he was Lord Mayor of Bottrop .

Life

Schmitz joined the SPD, became a city councilor and was chairman of the Bottrop SPD parliamentary group from 1976 to 1988. He replaced Ernst Wilczok, who died in 1988, as Lord Mayor of the city of Bottrop and was re-elected in 1989, which he held until 1994. During his term of office in 1989 the town twinning with Merseburg was concluded .

Kurt Schmitz had been married to Ingeborg Eichert since 1959 and had two daughters.
