Theo Knorr

Theo Knorr (born August 2, 1923 in Essen ; † December 11, 2012 ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and Lord Mayor of the city of Bottrop .

Life

As early as 1924, Knorr and his parents moved from Essen to Bottrop, when his father was employed as a miner.

politics

In 1957 Knorr joined the SPD . For the SPD he was a member of the city council of Bottrop from 1961 to 1979, with brief interruptions. From 1975 to 1976 he was Lord Mayor of Bottrop. Due to the municipal reorganization, Gladbeck and Kirchhellen belonged to Bottrop ( Glabotki ) at that time . Within the party, Knorr prevailed against the previous incumbent Ernst Wilczok in the proposal for election to mayor with 116 to 106 votes . In the council he was then elected with 32 votes out of 59. The regional reform was reversed by the Nicholas judgment of December 6, 1975. In 1976 Wilczok replaced Knorr as Lord Mayor.
