Bernhard Roghmann

Bernhard Roghmann (born December 31, 1914 in Essen , † April 14, 1990 ) was a German lawyer and North Rhine-Westphalian local politician ( CDU ). From 1961 to 1964 he was Lord Mayor of the city of Bottrop .

Life

Bernhard Roghmann studied law in Münster and Freiburg as well as law and economics in Vienna. In 1940 he passed his first state law examination. From 1940 to 1945 he was a soldier. After the end of the Second World War, he passed his legal state exams in 1946 and 1949 and worked as a lawyer , later also as a notary and specialist lawyer for tax law. On June 17, 1959, he was a co-founder of the diocesan committee of the Catholic committees of the Diocese of Essen (Ruhrbistum) and its founding president. In 1959 he was appointed to the Central Committee of German Catholics . He was a member of the Görres Society .

In 1962 he was appointed Knight of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Eugène Cardinal Tisserant and invested in Cologne on December 15, 1962 by Lorenz Jaeger , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy . Most recently he was an officer of the order.

politics

In 1952 Roghmann became a member of the CDU and since 1952 a councilor for the city of Bottrop.

On April 10, 1961, Bernhard Roghmann was elected Lord Mayor by the City Council of Bottrop and re-elected on April 25, 1963. Ernst Wilczok was his successor on October 6, 1964 ; Bernhard Roghmann had been the CDU's only Lord Mayor in Bottrop since 1946.
