Erich Baur

Erich Baur (baptized name: Erich Maria Hubert ) (born October 28, 1879 in Cologne , † August 16, 1956 in Bad Godesberg ) was a German administrative officer and Lord Mayor of the city of Bottrop .

Life

In April 1900, Erich Baur graduated from high school after attending the municipal high school in Cologne . This was followed by a law degree in Freiburg , Berlin , Heidelberg and Bonn . The conclusion was formed by the first state examination on May 23, 1903 at the Cologne Higher Regional Court . After working as a trainee lawyer in Bensberg and Cologne, he received his doctorate in Freiburg in the summer of 1906. Before he became a legal assistant at the city of Eschweiler from January 1908 to January 1909, he passed the second state examination on December 10, 1907. After working as a judge at Cologne District Court, notary administrator in Xanten and legal assistant at the Rhenish provincial administration , Baur came to the Recklinghausen city administration in April 1910, where he became a magistrate's assessor. His election as aldermen of the city fell on September 8, 1915. After confirmation by the Prussian State Ministry, he was introduced to his office on October 26, 1915. After he had been elected second mayor of the city in 1919, he resigned from office in April 1920 because he had been elected mayor in Bottrop. From September 1921 he held the title of Lord Mayor here . On February 17, 1923, the French occupying forces arrested him for refusing to obey. He was sentenced by a military court to one year imprisonment. After his retirement on September 30, 1933, he was admitted to the bar a year later. On May 1, 1934, he took up this activity in Bad Godesberg. Baur was a member of the German Center Party .
