Cornelis Beelt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cornelis Beelt , also Cornelius Beelt , (* 1640 in Rotterdam , † 1702 in Haarlem or Rotterdam) was a Dutch painter .

Cornelis Beelt is one of those Dutch painters whose living conditions are almost completely in the dark. He painted both landscape and figure pictures. Its beach landscapes, lake and winter pictures, as well as streets, lively squares and craft shops and workshops are particularly well known.

In 1661 he is documented as a master. His works are based on Willem Kool , Claes Molenaer and Egbert van der Poel both in composition and subject matter . In terms of color, light gray tones in gently filtered light, he is close to Salomon van Ruysdael , to whom his works are often wrongly ascribed.
