Cornelius (musician)
Keigo Oyamada (小 山田 圭 吾, born January 27, 1969 in Setagaya- ku, Tokyo , Japan ), also known by his stage name Cornelius , is a Japanese musician and producer who co-founded Flipper's Guitar , an influential Shibuya-kei band. After their dissolution in 1991, Oyamada began a successful solo career under the name "Cornelius". His pseudonym alludes to the character of the same name from the film Planet of the Apes . In 1997 he released the album Fantasma, which earned him praise from American music critics who called him a "modern Brian Wilson " or the "Japanese Beck ".
Oyamada was married to the musician Takako Minekawa from 2000 to 2012 , with whom he has a child. He is a second cousin of Joi Ito and Miki Berenyi .
